Formed in the fall of 2007, The Turpentiners are a five-piece acoustic group from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The group plays a mix of traditional American music ranging from gut-bucket blues to good-time country and rural swing. The repertoire is a soulful blend of American music from a wide range of eras and sources compiled with the philosophy that a good song—like good food—always proves itself relevant. Individually, the Turpentiners have performed in numerous well-regarded Pittsburgh ensembles including Coal Train, The Johnsons, Truth and Rights, Ploughman’s Lunch, Mac Martin & the Dixie Travelers, The Allegheny Rhythm Kings, and The B3s. Members are Ben Hartlage (guitar/vocals), Adam Frew (upright bass), Megan Williams (violin/vocals/washboard), Ron Mesing (dobro) and Stu Braun (harmonica). They can be found on the web at www.Facebook.com/Turpentiners.
