University of Pittsburgh Bluegrass Ensemble at the Roots Cellar (Local Folk)

Online ticket sales end at noon on the day of the show. Tickets will be available at the box office.

Since its founding in 2023, the University of Pittsburgh Bluegrass Ensemble has explored the canon of American roots music from a multi-generational, multi-cultural perspective.  Led by Bryce Rabideau, of Buffalo Rose (renowned Pittsburgh modern folk / Americana band), this group has developed a wide-ranging repertoire that includes 18th-century fiddle tunes, gospel classics, popular country hits, and genre-bending newgrass compositions.  With every performance, these students use their individual talents to create a show larger than the sum of its parts that celebrates Pittsburgh’s contributions to the ever-evolving world of bluegrass and Appalachian folk music.

Calliope’s Local Folk Series features tri-state-based musicians at the Roots Cellar.
