Ballads for Beginners

Want to get started in learning traditional ballads? Our online workshop will help you in finding songs and teach you some of the basics. No instrument needed, just your own singing voice.

Registration fee: $12.

With Instructors:

David Bennett has been singing and teaching ballads for more than 12 years. He also plays cello and ukulele.

 

Fiona McGrath, a native of Glasgow, Scotland, is a Folk/Celtic trad vocalist based in Pittsburgh, PA. Intertwining her song selections are those learned from her family, life-long music gathering, and participation in several folk events and musical groupings over the last ten years. Currently active as Forth River Bridge, a duo with vocal and accordionist, performing diverse selections of Americana, Folk, and Celtic music.

 

Ruthanne E. Ankney is a musician, folklorist, storyteller, actress, and singer. She has a Masters Degree in Theater. She has studied music and folklore near and far. Her special studies in folklore and music have taken her to England, Wales, Scandinavia, Germany, and Italy.  Ruthanne has performed at many theaters, festivals, and music venues.  She has created many seasonal educational and performance programs for museums, living history, schools, festivals, and more.
