Steve Ludwig and The Casual Hobos are a traditional bluegrass band headquartered in Western Pa. Drawing on a wide range of traditional bluegrass and early country influences, the band also performs a lot of original material in the traditional vein.
The quartet consists of Steve Ludwig on guitar and lead vocals. He is also the songwriter of the group. Randy Johnson plays mandolin and sings tenor. Mark Reid plays the banjo. Sari White rounds out the group on upright bass.
The band has performed at many venues throughout the region. Notable public appearances include the Three Rivers Arts Festival, the IBMA after-hours Showcase for Bronzewound in Raleigh, NC., the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show, and the Frick Pittsburgh, among others. The band released an Ep in 2019 titled “Unanswered Questions” and a full-length, all-original album titled “Down in the Deepest Shade of Blue” was released in 2020. These releases enjoy national Bluegrass radio airplay.
